- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
- In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13
The word “sealed” in this verse is different than what we do when we seal an envelope or a zip-lock bag. It refers to a king’s seal. When a king would make a decree, he would put his seal of approval on it. If the king’s seal were on the decree, it did not matter who wanted to change the decree, they could not. Even if the king himself wanted to change it, he could not. When we got saved, the Holy Spirit sealed us with the promise that we would go to heaven – proving that when we get saved, we are saved forever!
- And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish [go to hell], neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. John 10:28-29
- All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37
When we get saved, we are put in Jesus’ hand. Then God the Father’s hand, which is greater than all, comes over Jesus’ hand, allowing nothing to take us out! Some would say, “Well, what if I did something so bad that God Himself wanted to take me out. Couldn’t He just take me out of His own hand?” Jesus said in John 6:37, “He that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” Since Jesus cannot lie, God Himself will not take us out of His hand – we are saved forever!
- For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Romans 6:10a
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water [physical birth] and of the Spirit [spiritual birth, saved], he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:5
Just like we are only born on earth once, we are only born of God once.
- But as many as received him [got saved], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
When you get saved, you become God’s child. Just like when you disobeyed you parents, you were still their child. When you disobey God, you are still His child. When you disobeyed your parents, your relationship with them was not right. You needed to apologize – maybe you were punished. In a similar way, when you disobey God, you are still His child, but your relationship is not right. You need to ask Him to forgive you and get your relationship right with Him. You do not get saved again; you just need to restore the relationship with Him.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
- For a just [saved] man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 24:16
Salvation is not based on a feeling, but on faith that what God said in His Word is true.
- And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31
- That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:15
- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
- Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24
If we have trusted Christ alone to save us, we can rest assure we are saved based on God’s Word – not based on how we feel.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue;… [grow in our walk with God]…But he that lacketh these things [if we do not grow in our walk with God] is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins [got saved]. 2 Peter 1:5-9
If we do not grow in our walk with God, we can reach the point where we doubt our salvation.
